Safeguarding Policy
The Fairfield Trust (Landlord) accepts a limited duty of care to each tenant (as well as on-site visitors) and acknowledges that Fairfield residents are a community, bound by their Christian faith and common interests. A Safeguarding Policy is therefore adopted for the benefit of all residents.
The Landlord provides secure homes for each resident and communal rooms, services, hallways and corridors, accessible by resident's issued pass keys.
Residents are reminded that a tenancy at Fairfield is dependent on the resident being able to 'live independently'. This will be assessed at the start of the tenancy, but a resident's status in this respect may change over time due to:- age related issues, deterioration in general health, mental health, or mobility; loss of sight, significant deterioration in personal hygiene, food hygiene or nutrition. Unacceptable behavioural characteristics, acts of abuse, or posing a risk, threat or potential threat to the safety or wellbeing of themselves or others, or their ability to live in harmony with their neighbours in the wider Fairfield community, can also create circumstances where the Landlord reviews a tenant's suitability for living at Fairfield.
If, in the Landlord's reasonable opinion, a resident's tenancy needs to be reviewed, of paramount importance with be the safety and wellbeing of the individual concerned, their neighbours and the Fairfield community, as well as protection of the landlord's property and their wider reputation as a responsible landlord of good standing.
In the event of a safeguarding breach, the Landlord will under normal circumstances adopt the following procedure (OR in the case of an emergency or significant risk, the Landlord reserves the right to immediately call Emergency Services):
Issue any of the following, either individually or in an escalating sequence:-
Warning letter (with time limit)
Risk Assessment
Cease and Desist Order (with time limit)
Advisory Letter of intended termination of residency (with time limit)
Section 21 Notice (in accordance with statutory regulations)
In these circumstances, Next of Kin will also be informed and will be expected to aid and assist the resident (depending on the circumstances) in modifying their behaviour or finding and relocating to accommodation where suitable support can be provided for the resident's needs (this may involve liaising with other agencies including health practitioners and/or the Local Authority).
