Our Christian Charity

The Fairfield Trust is a UK registered charity, providing quality rented flats, at subsidised rates, for committed Christians, who might have worked for their church, a Christian charity, or been a missionary, clergy, minister, their wives or widows; who have given up opportunities of lucrative careers for the purposes of serving humanity, whether in the UK or overseas and now find themselves unable to provide a home of their own.

Fairfield and Fairfield West are two large, neighbouring, Victorian villas in Torquay, Devon, which have been substantially renovated and upgraded in recent years.

The properties provide sixteen, unfurnished one bedroom flats between them for ‘independent living’.  Fifteen flats are available for renting at preferential rates and one is kept as a guest flat, for families or close friends of residents to use when visiting Fairfield. The residential flats are all self-contained with one bedroom and are large enough for either a couple or single person to live in comfort. Off street parking is available in addition to a small number of garages for rent at the properties.

Homes to Rent

Flats are normally let on long-term assured short-hold tenancies (minimum 6 months) at preferential rates. Many of our residents have been with us for over ten years.

Rents and service charges for the flats are kept to a minimum and residents with limited incomes/savings are normally eligible to apply for Housing Benefit from the local authority.

Prime Location in Torquay, South Devon

Fairfield is set in peaceful surroundings with extensive gardens and sea views, in a quiet residential part of Torquay. It is a conservation area, in an elevated position overlooking Torbay and has a selection of local shops situated just a few hundred yards away, in Old Mill Road and Walnut Road, towards the town, seafront and beaches. The nearest beach is just 20 minutes walk from Fairfield.

Above Fairfield is a rural delight and within a short 10 minute walk (600 metres), lies the beautiful heritage village of Cockington, one of the most densely thatched villages in England. As well as its centre piece, the Grade II* listed Cockington Court, lying in magnificent grounds, the village comprises a working forge, waterwheel and magnificent medieval church. A pathway through stunning water meadows connects Cockington to the seafront, with plenty of open parkland and a choice of walking routes. The village also features a range of craft shops, a large cafe, a Lutyens-designed pub and water gardens.
